Mohamed Salah scored the second goal to seal a 2-0 victory for Liverpool in their English Premier League (EPL) clash with Brentford at Anfield on Sunday.
The Egyptian striker secured a deserved win after Luis Diaz had put Liverpool ahead in their first game of the season at Anfield.
Diaz sealed a rapid counter attack on the 13th minute, slotting in Diogo Jota’s pass at the near post to raise the Anfield roof. It was the 27-year-old Colombian winger’s 25th goal for the club, scored on his 100th appearance.
The hosts continued to threaten against a Brentford side that had not enjoyed success in five of their past six meetings, and they finally found the goal that ensured a perfect record in the new season through Salah’s well-taken strike on 70 minutes.
Victory for the Reds means Arne Slot becomes first Liverpool manager to win their first two matches of the season in 33 years.
Elsewhere, Noni Madueke scored a hattrick as Chelsea thrashed Wolverhampton Wanderers 6-2 to earn their first win of the season, while Newcastle United escaped with a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.
